Custom Armbands, EOC Vests & ICS Vests: Make Every Role Easy to Identify

“Who’s handling logistics?”

“Where’s the incident commander?”

“Who do these volunteers report to?”

When multiple teams come together, those questions shouldn’t require walking around asking everyone in the room.

Clear identification helps people find the right person. Whether you’re organizing an Emergency Operations Center, staffing an incident command post, or preparing volunteers for an exercise, custom armbands and role identification vests can make your team easier to recognize.

At The Vest Guy, we build identification gear around the people wearing it—their roles, their clothing, and the way their organization operates.

EOC Vests: Identify the People Behind the Coordination

An Emergency Operations Center brings people together to coordinate information, resources, and support for incident operations.

In a room filled with personnel from different departments and agencies, names alone don’t tell everyone who handles what. A clearly labeled vest gives people a useful starting point.

Your EOC might need identification for its director, planning staff, logistics personnel, public information staff, or agency representatives. The wording should match your organization’s actual structure.

Think about how the vest will be used. Can someone read the title across the room? Is the identification visible from behind? Will the fit remain comfortable over the clothing your staff normally wears?

Start with those questions when choosing your setup.

ICS Vests: Make Assigned Roles Visible

The Incident Command System organizes on-scene incident management. Clearly marked vests help personnel recognize assigned roles at a command post, during a training exercise, or at a planned event.

Examples include:

• Incident Commander

• Operations Section Chief

• Planning Section Chief

• Logistics Section Chief

• Finance/Administration Section Chief

• Safety Officer

• Public Information Officer

• Liaison Officer

Our Incident Command Vest includes custom name tags, adjustable sides, a radio pocket, storage pockets, and front and back reflective material.

Need identification that can change with an assignment? Our custom incident command name tags are available separately with hook-and-loop backing.

Custom Armbands: A Compact Option for Your Team

An armband is useful when you want visible role identification in a smaller format.

Use custom wording for CERT, communications, volunteers, security, medical personnel, or the assignments specific to your organization.

Our custom armbands offer choices in fabric color, lettering color, wording, and optional reflective tape. Adjustable elastic shock cord accommodates different clothing, from a T-shirt to a heavier jacket.

They’re also compact enough to organize by role and keep ready in a response kit or training bag.

Build a Consistent System Before You Need It

Before ordering, decide which positions need identification, what each item should say, and which colors your organization uses.

Keep titles readable. Use strong contrast between lettering and fabric. Match your agency’s identification plan, and practice with the gear during exercises so everyone becomes familiar with it.

For assignments requiring ANSI-rated high-visibility apparel, choose the appropriate vest and configuration for that requirement. Reflective tape alone does not make every armband or identification vest ANSI compliant.
